google buzz going away......

                                         Google Buzz Logo
Its been some time since Google announced that it will taking down the Twitter-like service, Buzz, it started some time ago. Even though its a Google service and was integrated pretty nice into GMail, it dint take down Twitter by even a small percentage. While the number of users using Twitter are increasing, the number for Buzz is decreasing. I dont think much people are using Buzz directly. I have just connected my Twitter account to Buzz so that each of Tweets gets reflected on my Buzz account as well.

Google is now shutting down and changing a few of its services. The company has changed the user interface on almost all its services, and Google has also decided to take down Reader as well. On the same lines, Buzz is also going down in a few weeks. If you have been a power user of the tool, you will miss it for sure. But, you still can have all the Buzz posts you have done till now. How is that?
Well, Google offers two solutions. You will still have it on your Google Profile. But if you dont want it and want to have a local copy of all your Buzz posts on your hard drive, Google provides you that option as well. You can download it using Takeout (Takeaway). Here, you can select the Google services that you want to archive. All the data that you want to download will be downloaded as a file to your hard drive.
Hope this works. If you have any doubt, feel free to leave a comment.

How to Overclock Your Nexus S to 1.3Ghz!

For those of you who’ve installed Cyanogen Mod ROM, you can overclock your Nexus S to 1.4Ghz.  Depending on your phone’s CPU, it can be less.  For mine, I was able to overclock my Nexus S to 1.3Ghz.
To do this, you will need to download the overclocked kernel here:
http://nexusshacks.com/download-netarchy-nexus-1-3-0-2-bfs-2-3-3-cm7-compat-signed-zip/

1.You need to first copy the above zip file into your Nexus S SD Card.
2.After that, go into ROM Manager and reboot into recovery.
3.Once you are in Clockwork Recovery, just install from zip and select the zip file you copied over earlier.
4.Once it reboots, install the SetCPU, download here (any version will do).
5.Then unzip the zip file, copy over the .apk file to your Nexus S SD Card.
6.Then simply open the file and install using File Manager.
7.Open the SetCPU and see how fast you can get your Nexus S phone to go. Mine would reboot at 1.4Ghz but worked fine at 1.3Ghz.

android 2.3.6

Google Nexus One which is also known as the grand father of Android phones and Google’s first Nexus device get’s updated to Android 2.3.6. Last update which Nexus officially received was of Android 2.3.4, now Google has decided to skip 2.3.5 and jump directly to 2.3.6. Well I have not updated my Nexus One yet as it is on CyanogenMod and I am sure they will be including Android 2.3.6 in their next nightly. The update does not have anything in particular except dome bug fixes. Follow the instructions below to manually update if you haven’t received the update yet.

Note:

* Android 2.3.6 update should be applied on top of Android 2.3.4 and if you are running a custom ROM then first download and apply Android 2.3.4 (GRJ22) from here. Just rename the downloaded zip file to “upodate.zip”, transfer it to the root of your SD card, then apply update from SD card.
* If you are rooted and are running a custom ROM then you will lose all your data and root, so it is better if you take a Nandroid backup before performing the procedure below.

Download:

Download Android 2.3.6 (GRK39F) from here
http://lts.cr/xSz

Procedure:

* Rename the downloaded zip file to Update.zip
* Copy Update.zip to the root of your SDcard (Not inside any folders)
* Switch off phone
* Switch on the phone by pressing volume down and power button together until a white screen shows up
* Now you will be able to see Recovery as the second option, select it by using the volume keys to toggle and the power button to select
* When you see a screen with a triangle and an exclamation mark inside it press volume up and power button until you see Recovery
* Once you are inside recovery select Appply SDcard Update.zip
* Once the process is done, reboot your phone
* you will boot into Android 2.3.6
